January Biodiversity Caucus Meeting

The federal government is currently in the pivotal second phase of updating the Canadian Biodiversity Strategy in alignment with the UN Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Strategy. The government is requesting comments on their milestone document, published in December 2023, by February 9th.

The federal milestone document serves as the foundation for Canada's progress thus far and will be the focal point during our meeting. Our goal is to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of the government's current position and facilitate a platform for you to contribute your perspectives, as your voice is crucial for our upcoming submission to the federal government.

This meeting will feature a lineup of esteemed guest speakers, each bringing a unique perspective to the discussion. Our speakers will delve into a broad spectrum of topics, covering Indigenous perspectives, Municipal considerations, and the crucial theme of the Rights of Nature. Don't miss this chance to gain valuable insights and contribute to federal policy surrounding crucial biodiversity issues. All are welcome!

Please visit rcen.ca/biodiversity for additional information on how you can actively participate in the ongoing dialogue and contribute your insights.
