Second Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to Prepare a Legally Binding Instrument on Mercury
When: INC-2 is January 24-28, 2011. There are pre-meetings on-site January 23 and additional travel time is required.

The RCEN has selected one ENGO delegate to participate at the Second Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to Prepare a Legally Binding Instrument on Mercury (INC-2), as a member of the Canadian delegation. INC-2 is the second of five negotiating sessions planned between 2010-2013 for a global, legally binding agreement on mercury.

The RCEN will be hosting a teleconference on January 19th at 11:00 AM Eastern Time to give other interested members of the ENGO community the opportunity to connect with the selected delegate and provide her with additional ENGO perspective in advance of the meetings in Japan. Who will participate?
The Canadian delegation to INC-2 will be led by Environment Canada and will comprise representatives of Environment Canada and other federal departments and possibly one each of representatives from ENGOs, Aboriginal peoples, Canadian industry and provinces/territories. INC-2 participation will comprise national delegations of many countries as well as observers from ENGOs, IGOs, industry and others.
