| Network News July 7th, 2010 RCEN Funding Issues and National Office Update Due to reduced funding from Environment Canada and temporary cash-flow issues, the RCEN National Office will be operating on skeleton staff effective this Friday, July 9th and for the next two weeks, or until core funding has been confirmed. If you would like to assist us in this difficult time, please write a letter of support to the Minister of the Environment describing how the existence of the RCEN is important to the work of your organisation. Please copy us in whatever communications you send. Thank you for your support and understanding, - The RCEN National Office Staff Contact information: Minister of the Environment and Canadian Environmental Network Biodiversity Report: Gap Analysis and ENGO Consultation Paper on Major Issues Related to COP-10 In advance of the 10th Conference of the Parties (COP-10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity this October, the RCEN is producing a suite of papers consolidating environmental NGO views and priorities related to issues on the agenda of COP-10. This first paper, entitled ENGO Consultation on COP-10 Issues & Gap Analysis of the Canadian Implementation of the CBD Strategic Plan, looks at some of the more important thematic issues that are being addressed within the official COP-10 agenda, while identifying gaps in outreach and biodiversity sustainable use strategies and concludes with recommendations to improve civil society engagement to reduce biodiversity loss.
