Executive Secretary of the CBD to Deliver Keynote Speech at AGA
The RCEN is pleased to announce that Dr. Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of the 2009 Annual General Assembly. Dr. Djoghlaf has pursued a distinguished diplomatic career that has included postings with the government of Algeria and UNEP, and has an extensive knowledge of global environment processes within the UN system and within the CBD process.
This year's AGA theme is BiodiverCity - Cities and Biodiversity. The event will take place from June 12-14, in Edmonton. More about the AGA
Susan Tanner Honoured by UN Association in Canada
On March 5th, the United Nations Association in Canada will honour several outstanding women from the Ottawa region who are transforming Canadian society through leadership and service. One of the honourees is the RCEN's own Executive Director, Susan Tanner. The Champions Amongst Us reception will celebrate the vision, commitment and remarkable achievements of these women, while marking the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day. Congratulations Susan!
