Environmental Assessment Reform Summit
In preparation for the Environmental Assessment Review Process, West Coast Environmental Law convened an EA Reform Summit in Ottawa in May 2016. The Summit web page has a whack of materials, both background readings and presentations, some of which are also available here. The Executive Summary sets out twelve interdependent pillars of a visionary new environmental assessment regime for Canada, distilled from the key principles and recommendations that flowed from the Summit (version française). The entire proceedings are also available.

Environmental Assessment Resources

Submissions to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency regarding proposed amendments to the Regulations Designating Physical Activities (“Project List Regulations”) — plus a letter from the Council of Canadians rejecting the process as too flawed to be useful.

Statutory Review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (7-year Review) 2011-2012
The House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development has been charged with undertaking the 7-year Parliamentary Review of CEAA. It held hearings from October 20 to November 25, 2011, and accepted written submissions until November 28, 2011. Transcripts and other documentation related to those sessions are available on the Committee's web page. We have compiled here as many of the written submissions as possible:
