Manitoba Eco-Network
Manitoba Eco-Network (MEN) is an umbrella for environmental organizations in Manitoba. A registered charity, the network marked its 25th anniversary in 2008. MEN’s mission statement says it all: “We promote positive environmental action by connecting people and groups in our communities. We educate, we facilitate, we celebrate!”
With over 50 member groups working on a wide range of environmental issues, all over the province of Manitoba, the MEN brings groups together, shares information widely with the general public and builds capacity in the environmental movement through workshops and training opportunities, eco-volunteer placement, a public environmental library, annual awards, and its regular publication, Eco-Journal.
The MEN also hosts a number of educational and capacity-building projects, including Climate Change Connection, the Water Caucus, Organic Lawn Care Education, the Manitoba Environmental Youth Network, and a GIS and Mapping Centre. They are a founding partner of the Children's Health and Environment Partnership of Manitoba.
The network "lives" in an eco-friendly office space, shared with 6 other environmental non-profits, on the 3rd floor of Mountain Equipment Coop's LEED Gold building in Winnipeg. If you're ever in Winnipeg, stop by for a visit!
